Our terms, in plain words.
The short version: a fixed price we agree by email, 50% to start, 50% before your site goes live, your first draft in 48 hours and no monthly fees. Here's the detail.

1. Quotes and prices
Every job starts with a fixed price that we confirm by email. The "from" prices on our site cover each package as described. Anything extra, like more pages, a new feature, your website words or a logo tidy-up, is quoted up front, and we only start it once you've said yes by email.
Prices are in Australian dollars. Mahau Studio isn't registered for GST, so no GST is added.
2. Paying
- 50% to start. Once you accept the quote, we email an invoice for half. We start as soon as it's paid.
- 50% before launch. When you've approved your site, we email an invoice for the rest. Your site goes live once it's paid.
- How to pay. By card, using the link on the invoice, or by bank transfer, using the details on the invoice. Invoices are due within 7 days.
3. Timing
Your first draft arrives within 48 hours (two business days) of us having your deposit and your details: your logo, photos, services and contact details. After that, Starter sites go live within 3 business days, Business within 5 and Premium within 10.
Those times assume you reply to each draft within one business day. While we're waiting on you, the clock pauses. If we're ever running late, we'll email you to say why and when it will be ready.
4. Changes
- Before launch. Starter includes one round of changes, Business two and Premium three. A round is one email listing everything you'd like changed. Extra rounds are quoted first.
- After launch. Small changes are free for 30 days, like updating words, photos, prices or opening hours. After that, email us what you need and we'll quote it before doing anything.
5. Your content
You confirm you're allowed to use the logo, photos and words you send us. Stock photos we supply are licensed for use on your website.
6. Who owns the site
Once you've paid in full, the design and website files are yours. We may show your site in our own portfolio unless you ask us not to.
7. Hosting and your domain
We host your site for free, with no monthly fee. Your domain name is registered in your name and you pay for it directly, usually about $20 to $50 a year. If you ever want to move your site somewhere else, we'll send you the files for free.
Free hosting relies on our hosting provider's free plan. If that ever changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before anything changes and help you move.
The forms on your site use a free form service, which has a monthly limit on messages. We'll tell you if your site gets close to it.
8. If you change your mind
- Cancel before we've started your draft, and we refund your deposit in full.
- Once your draft has been delivered, the deposit covers that work and isn't refunded. You don't pay the second half, and the site doesn't go live.
9. The free makeover preview
The makeover preview is free, with no obligation. If you'd like the whole site done, we quote it by email and these terms apply from there.
10. Your rights
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
